David and I want to thank everyone that was able to come to the meeting last night. WOW! I believe we had the largest crowd that we have ever had in quite some time. It was great to see all the familiar faces as well as a lot of new faces. We believe the new venu worked out quite well. Sorry for the initial set up hick-ups but we should have things running smoothly for the following meetings.
We had some great discussions yesterday, a nice demo on Motion by David with some good follow on uses for Motion. I compiled a list of all of the links from the meeting. I believe I got everything but if there is something I missed just drop me or David an email and we will update the notes from the meeting.
Motion Tutorials:
For Motion tutorials there are a number of places to go on the web. For free tutorials one of the best places is :
Apple Motion Group on Vimeo
Apple Motion Forum on the COW
Apple Inc Resources Page on FCP
MacBreak Studio on the Pixel Corps website
We talked about plugins and resources for getting textures. Here are those links.
Motion Templates can be found at this site.
Conduit by dvGarage is an outstanding plug-in for Motion as well as FCP.
A whole bunch of textures can be found here.
For just motion graphics in general as well as a few sites for working in After Effects here are the sites we talked about:
Video Copilot is THE resource for After Effects. It does not get any better than Andrew Kramers work. Check it out and we think you will agree.
Greyscale Gorilla is the work of Nick Cambell. Nick is an inexhaustible source of energy and talent. Check out his web site and I would encourage you to try one of his 5 second challenges. It is a great way to stretch your talents.
Red Giant Software has a number of tutorials an a whole slew of great plugins for both After Effects as well as Final Cut Pro.
As always The Cow is a great place for lots of resources and information. Check it out when you have a moment.
On a final note. Bill Davis mentioned an incredible video that was done with birds way back in the 40′s. Shows a testimony for patience in my book for sure. I mentioned a video by a very talented group of individuals that shows just what you can do with a simple set up, a lot of imagination and a WHOLE lot of work.
I think that wraps it up for January. Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 17th at the same location. The topic will be Codecs. What are they, how to use them, which one to use and where are they going. We are looking forward to seeing all of you there again!

I was reading the tweets about the new FCP X, and came across this blog with lots of good production How To videos, and thought I’d share it here:

Here’s a couple of more really good resources:
